Windy Walk

Another windy day today.  Despite that, Pete and I went on our daily walk.  He brought me to a new area today.  He calls it Malmo's Arab Street since there were many Middle Eastern restaurants there.  Also, many of them work and live around that area.  We've tried one of the restaurants there last December and we liked it.

But today, we were not going to one.  We walked past the restaurants and headed to the square at the end of the street.  There's a farmers' market there and he was taking me there to browse and maybe buy some fresh produce.  Along the way, we stopped by an Asian grocery store.  It sold food stuff like fresh mangosteen, dried beehoon, Asian sauces (Lingham's chili sauce!), prawn crackers and even frozen fishballs.  Oh and I found packets of frozen durians even.  Now I know where to go whenever I needed to get a taste of home.

There were more fresh produce at the market.  The stall owners were friendly.  One even said "Sawadee Kap", thinking that I was from Thailand.  When I told him where I was from, he didn't know where it was.  Whenever we approached a fruit stall, they would hand us samples for us to try.  The fruits tasted sweet and fresh.  The prices are also much cheaper than those in the supermarkets.  In the end, we bought blueberries, strawberries, butterhead lettuce, cucumbers and bell peppers.

After that, we stopped by the hospital to visit my sister in law.  The hospital grounds was made up of several buildings which had very lovely exteriors.  One building had a row of beautiful tulips in front of it.  Another one had lovely vines with blue flowers growing on its wall.  And just like Saturday when we were there, the wards smelt of cinnamon buns.  It's all very welcoming for visitors.

I didn't have time to cook lunch, so we stopped by a falafel and kebab stall near our place and had a very filling lunch of rolls filled with falafel and kebabs.  I love the falafel very much.  The inside was fluffy and flavourful and the outside was crispy.  I don't mind having that again some time.  Luckily it's just a short walk away so I can have my fill of falafel any time I want.  It's really yummy.  A really yummy and healthy end to our walk.
